Lesson

• First Assignment
  • I introduced this Minecraft themed lesson to the students by watching three videos.  I wanted it to lead the conversation about what is a “pixel.”
  • We then coloured Minecraft Pixel Art Grid Coloring Pages.  (I wouldn’t photocopy Steve again unless they fix some of the instructions)
  • The Minecraft colouring sheets proved to be too difficult for a few of my students.  For the second class, I photocopied a few easier images. (Megapixel Colouring Pages)
• Second Assignment
  • We watched videos about colouring with pixels. (I slowed down the video playback).
  • The students were allowed to explore (without any instructions) Interactive Online Pixel game.
  • The next class, they were given a grid paper.  They had to design their picture on paper and then create it on the computer.
• Third Assignment
  • Everyone did Minecraft Voyage Aquatic so they could support one another.  Once done, they could choose between Minecraft Adventurer, Minecraft Designer, or Minecraft Hero’s Journey.
  • Minecraft Hour of Code Tutorials
