The students had a great time learning French colours as they were introduced to the colours black and red (noir et rouge) while we were preparing for our Christmas concert.
I choreographed the performance with 6 classes and a group of students who met at lunch. Each class was assigned an article of Santa’s clothing based on the song Quand le Père Noël. Everyone sang and marched to the first two lines of the song and then each class took their turn with their article of clothing. We made signs with another teacher’s pdf and this clip art.
I made a Quand le Père Noël worksheet based on the version of the song I found on YouTube. From this worksheet we also learned/reviewed mon/ma/mes and ton/ta/tes. I dressed as Santa and invited the students to compliment the clothes that made my Santa outfit.
After learning French colours with this colouring worksheet and a great poster from Poster Pals we played a version of 7-up. I gave the 7 students who were up, a card with a colour. Instead of using our real names, students called each other by colours.
When the student guessing is correct, the student holding the card, would say “Oui, bien sûr.” When the student guessing is not correct, the student holding the card would say “Non, c’est dommage.”
During this lesson, we also watch a few videos ( 1 / 2 ) and sometimes I give students a colour-by-number worksheet.
The concert is next week! Pictures to follow. 🙂
